Problem Statement: Students in the West Contra Costa Unified School District need inspirational role-models to look up to and relate too.
Purpose Statement: The purpose of this study was to create a system to educate and inspire West Contra Costa Unified School District students through the documentation of local heroes.
Reasoning:
I decided to change my study from “The effect Mexican-grown marijuana consumed in the Bay Area has on Mexico” to The lack of role-models in The West Contra Costa Unified School District, WCCUSD. The new p&p Statements reflect my interest in making a difference at a micro-level in my community. The WCUSSD is the school district in which I grew up in. The WCUSSD encompasses the city of Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Hercules and Pinole. The rationale behind this is that many students are not aware of the achievements of many great individuals in their community. The lack of inspiration leads students to look for inspiration in alternative places, places that might not ideal.
